About Amy

For much of my childhood and young adult life, I figured I was just odd and different. 

I couldn’t understand why my peers didn’t seem to notice things that bothered and upset me. 

Conversely, nobody seemed to be as excited and enthusiastic as I was about the simple pleasures, genuine connection, and synchronicity of life. 

All of my feelings felt too big to handle and kept me carrying a sense of separateness from those around me. 

So I desensitized. 

As a young adult, I did what I thought I should do. 

As a new mother, I found myself completely overwhelmed, burned out, trying to do it all, battling perfectionism fueled by my professional background in early childhood, and questioning everything.

I went on this way until I couldn’t any longer and was forced to reflect on why things felt so stressful, overwhelming, and chaotic. 

I came across the work of Elaine Aron and began to identify myself as a highly sensitive person (On the screening questionnaire I can tick every single box) and an empath. 

I also started to research ADHD in women (I’d been diagnosed at age 25) and began to accept I needed to do life differently. 

I dove deep into research on mindfulness, the science of happiness, sensory awareness, and environmental psychology.

Then through a combination of the practices I was learning, nature-inspired living, and holistic child development principles I acquired through my degree in early childhood education and time working with hundreds of families over two decades… the Roots and Rhythms method was created!

I am honored to be fulfilling my purpose by supporting highly sensitive and neurodivergent families through personalized coaching, recommendations, and encouragement.
